SC Attorney General’s Office Supports Launch of a Tri-County Human Trafficking Task Force
CHARLESTON, SC (PRESS RELEASE) — On Friday, March 30, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office supported the launch of a Tri-County Human Trafficking Task Force. The initial meeting had 40 attendees, including representatives from law enforcement, the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, DSS, DJJ, College of Charleston, US Attorney’s Office, Doors to Freedom, Farmworker’s Unit of the S.C. Legal Services, Darkness to Light, and concerned church and community members.
Survivor of Trafficking
The most compelling part of the meeting occurred when Lindsey Hass, a trafficking survivor exploited in the Tri-County area from 2011 to 2012, said she cried the day she left jail because she feared for what her trafficker may do to her.
